Cylindropuntia Imbricata, commonly known as Cholla or Tree Cholla, is a distinctive cactus native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico. This striking plant is characterized by its cylindrical, jointed stems covered in spiny tubercles. The stems are typically green or purplish-green, with age giving them a woody appearance. In late spring to early summer, Cholla produces vibrant, magenta to pink flowers that are followed by yellow, spiny fruit. It can grow up to 8 feet tall and branches profusely, creating a shrub-like form. Cylindropuntia Imbricata is well-adapted to arid environments, thriving in well-draining soil and full sun. It is a hardy plant that can tolerate temperatures as low as -10°F (-23°C). This cactus is often used in xeriscaping and can add a dramatic, architectural element to desert gardens.
